Life without a Car

September 12, 2015 Hastings and Hastings

It is easy to take your car for granted. To accept it as a given, a standard part of normal every day life. It does so much work for you. It drives you to work, to the grocery store, to the coffee shop, to the baseball game, and to the movie theatre. It gets you to Flagstaff on the weekends, or to sunny San Diego for vacation. So what would life be like if suddenly your car disappeared? Or, more likely, if it was damaged in a car accident?

Phoenix is a large, spread out metropolitan city. Sure living in New York or Chicago without a car might be manageable. These cities are well known for their public transportation and their close quarters. If you live in either of these cities you can walk down the street to the deli or the market. The entrance to the subway system is just around the corner. In Phoenix, drives of 10-15 minutes are common. Some people make a daily commute of up to 45 minutes or an hour! How could you accomplish this without a car? Using Phoenix public transportation could add hours on to any simple commute.

The difficulty is compounded the closer you look at it. What if you have to make multiple stops on a trip? What if you need to go to work, pick up groceries, drop off your dry cleaningand still get home by six to make dinner? There aren’t enough hours in the day to plot out bus routes, wait, dance from bus line to bus line and still get your errands done!

The last thing anyone wants is for this nightmare to become a reality. Keep yourself protected with car insurance and smart financial planning. In the eventuality of an accident or catastrophe, protect yourself legally by contacting Hastings and Hastings at (480)706-1100.
